Flow India - Integrated Creative Enquiry Programme
( 5th Feb – 9th Feb 2015)
This activity by Flow India focused on a particular chapter of civics, Markets and Livelihoods. Children spent Day 1 on thinking about a presentation on markets which introduced them to some key concepts like the commodity chain, buyers, sellers, types of markets and resources.
A class debate where children used their knowledge of malls and traditional markets through a sequencing activity, gave them time to deliberate on the key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and drawbacks of both malls and markets.
A visit to the traditional market of Sarafa (local market) was the order of the day on Day 2 where children conducted an interview of the shopkeepers to understand their trade, recorded the commodity chain, understood the key areas from where commodities arrive at the market and did an advertising and branding communication survey.
