THEATRICAL MAKEUP WORKSHOP

Ms. Melissa Berry from Ashbury College, Canada conducted a ‘theatrical makeup’ workshop for Jr. School Teachers on 19th July 2016. Participants learnt how to work with latex. With this product, wounds and wrinkles can easily be created. The makeup techniques taught in the workshop can be used for stage makeup and special effects makeup for movies. The teachers created realistic looking wounds using fake blood. They blended the wounds to their skin using foundation. The final result was quite scary.

Gond Tribal Art Workshop by renowned artist Mrs. Japani Shyam


Under the Virasat – 2016 series organized by SPIC MACAY, Indore Chapter a three-day workshop on ‘Gond Tribal Painting’ commenced at the Daly College, Jr. School. The workshop was conducted by Smt. Japani Shyam who is the daughter of the famous Gond artist, Shri. Jangarh Singh Shyam.


The Workshop was conducted in two groups of 30 students each, with a session of 90 minutes. The students were first briefed about the origin of Gond tribal paintings. This form originated from Patangarh village in Dindori District in Madhya Pradesh. 

In the early days, Gond Paintings were made on walls of houses depicting animals, religious deities and birds. Later in mid 1980’s Shri Jangarh Singh Shyam introduced this painting on paper.


The students were briefed about the various brushes that are used to draw the pictures of birds and other animals and also how different colors are used. During the session, students made an outline of their individual drawing which was further enhanced during succeeding sessions.


The participating students were excited to be a part of this workshop.



Principal Dr. Sumer Singh, Headmistress Jr. School Mrs. Rashmi Ahuja and Dean Jr. School Mr. Gary Everett visited the workshop and encouraged the participants and appreciated the efforts of the mentors.

MY ASPIRATION - 'WHEN I GROW UP'


This activity was conducted under the Daly College and Peel Hall, Manchester, U.K. Global Curriculum  Collaborative Activities Programme for Grade VI students on 27th of June 2016. Enthusiasm shown by students in putting across their aspiring thoughts was par excellence. They  did not just want to be  engineers  and   doctors, but their aspirations  varied from  software engineers to  pilots, scientists to fashion designers, chefs to sports persons and  authors to actors . Some Aspiring young buds of Class VI also reflected their  interests in preserving  wild life and  nature. These aspirations will be shared with the students of  Peel Hall, Manchester, U.K.
