"Dance is like an endless ocean, every time you dive in you come back with handful of  exclusive pearls."

The Staff and students of DC, Jr. School were treated to a spectacular Mohiniyattam Performance by the renowned Mohiniyattam Danseuse Smt. Saji Menon on 28th June, 2016 at the Dhirubhai Ambani Auditorium organized by the Indore chapter of SpicMacay, the organization that has taken upon itself the onus of creating an awareness about our rich cultural heritage. 





Mohiniyattam  is an Indian classical dance form of  Kerala. Believed to have originated in the 16th Century it became popular in the 19th Century. The main theme of Mohiniyattam is love and devotion to God.



  

Smt. Menon spoke about and demonstrated the 24 basic hand gestures and their usages. Her depiction of ‘Navrasa’ followed by two more ‘Rasas’ the ‘Vatsalya’ and ‘Bhakti’ ras not only kept the audience totally spellbound but also proved her expertise and knowledge about ‘Mohiniyattam’.




 

This lecture-demonstration was highly interactive apart from being captivating.
